Up to Upton-on-Severn

After travelling back up to Gloucester Docks Sunday morning we did some shopping, buying a new phone and camera case for Joy and then spent the night there before retracing our route up the Severn.

DSCF0114 To be honest the stretch of river between Gloucester and the Upper Parting, where the river splits between the wide (un-navigable) section and the narrower (navigable) stretch down to Gloucester is pretty boring as it tree lined most of the way with only glimpses of houses and fields around. When we reached the Parting, however, there was some light relief as the Fire & Rescue Service was having great fun doing an exercise with an inflatable and a canoe (or was it a kayak)

Mythe Bridge We plodded our way onwards and stopped for lunch at The Haw Bridge Inn where we managed to moor up behind two cruisers. Onwards past Tewkesbury & on to Upton-on-Severn, a pretty little town with lots of old fashioned specialist shops.

DSCF0138 We squeezed in on the pontoon moorings and phoned our friends Graham & Judy from here and were surprised to learn they were only 10minutes away, so they drove down to join us and we spent a very convivial evening together.
